Dearest Ones,
This is a warm invitation to come celebrate the release of this book of Buddhist women’s teaching stories. There will be several wonderful teachers and many teachers of color featured in the program and present to sign books. We are thrilled that PJ Hirabayashi from San Jose Taiko will be opening the evening with drumming. Volunteers are needed to help on-site and/or to bring finger food for the celebration. If interested contact volunteer coordinator Allison Warren – adwarren247@gmail.com

See you there,
Zenju Earthlyn Manuel

On November 23rd in San Francisco there will be a public celebration of the release of a ground-breaking book of Buddhist women’s teaching stories.

The Hidden Lamp is a collection of one hundred stories and koans about women from the time of the Buddha until the present, each illuminated with a reflection by a contemporary Buddhist woman teacher.

From 7-9 pm on November 23rd at the San Francisco Unitarian Universalist Church (1187 Franklin Street at Geary)  there will be a lively program of performance, readings, discussion, and book-signings with the co-editors Zenshin Florence Caplow and Reigetsu Susan Moon, and many of the prominent contributors, including Sylvia Boorstein, Joanna Macy, Jane Hirshfield, Natalie Goldberg, Merle Kodo Boyd, Viveka Chen, Mushim Patricia Ikeda, Zenju Earthlyn Manuel, and Bobby Rhodes. The event is by donation, and books will be available for purchase.
